Multiple tooth implants are more practical, reliable, and more comfortable than bridges or removable partial dentures. In addition, because multiple tooth dental implants replace your natural tooth roots, they help preserve the jaw bone.
Advantages of Multiple Tooth Implants
Multiple tooth implants substitute teeth without the support of nearby teeth, and they look and function like natural teeth. Other procedures for multiple tooth loss, such as bridges or removable partial dentures, rely on surrounding teeth for support and can adversely affect them.
Another significant benefit is that multiple implants do not require the additional maintenance partial dentures do, as dentures must be removed, sanitized, and soaked overnight. Multiple tooth implants, on the other hand, are easily maintained by simply visiting your dentist for your regular check-ups and practicing good oral homecare.
How Are Multiple Tooth Implants Placed?
An implant has three components:
Implant Post
The implant post is placed into your jaw and shaped like a screw or cylinder.
Abutment
This element connects the artificial tooth to the implant.
Prosthetic Teeth
These tooth replicas are designed to look and function just like real teeth.
Multiple Tooth Implants Procedure
The procedure starts with an incision in the gum. Then, a hole is drilled into the jaw bone and the implant post is inserted. This is repeated for every tooth implant.
After the implant post fuses with the jawbone, the abutment is attached. Next, the artificial tooth or crown is attached to the abutment and the restoration is completed.
Aftercare for Multiple Tooth Implants
Implants do not require special care and they are easy to maintain. The only thing you need to do is to continue your normal oral care routine that includes regular brushing and flossing. Your routine should also include regular visits to the dentist, ideally once every 6 months.
